DG ISPR Confirms Pakistani Troops Stationed in Saudi Arabia
The meeting agreed to make immediate progress on collective defence commitments
RAWALPINDI: (Special Reporter) – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has confirmed the presence of Pakistani military personnel in Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with US media, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have maintained close defence ties for decades, with Pakistani troops stationed in Saudi Arabia for many years.
He said Pakistani troops currently deployed in Saudi Arabia belong to different operational domains under the Makkah Defence Agreement.
The confirmation comes days after the Makkah Defence Alliance decided to provide the necessary military forces and capabilities for immediate deployment in Saudi Arabia.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Defence Alliance was held in Riyadh on Monday, with representatives from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye participating.
The meeting agreed to make immediate progress on collective defence commitments and provide the required military forces and capabilities for deployment in Saudi Arabia.
A joint statement issued after the meeting said the security of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye is an integral part of their collective security.
The statement added that translating the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement into practical measures demonstrates the three countries’ commitment to collective defence.
