Three Afghan Nationals Jailed for Raping Teenage Girl

Police located the girl after her mother reported her missing.

BRISTOL: (News Desk) – Three Afghan nationals have been sentenced to prison in the UK over the rape of a teenage girl in Bristol, while a fourth Afghan national, aged 17, was also convicted and sentenced in connection with the case.

Mehraf Safi, 21, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, while Awaz Ahmadzai, 19, and Salman Habib Khail, 19, were each sentenced to nine years in a young offenders’ institution.

The 17-year-old offender was sentenced to two years and seven months in a youth detention centre.

The court heard that the 17-year-old victim met Safi while Christmas shopping in Bristol in November 2025. Safi later contacted her through Snapchat, gained her trust and persuaded her to send intimate images before arranging a taxi to take her to a house in St Werburghs.

According to the prosecution, the girl was given alcohol after arriving at the property and was sexually assaulted repeatedly over several hours by the three men and the teenage offender.

The three adult offenders later fled the UK by concealing themselves in the back of a lorry. They were subsequently arrested by French police in Calais and returned to Britain.

During sentencing, Judge Michael Cullam said the victim had suffered “unimaginable” psychological trauma. The court heard that she now fears leaving her home and continues to experience the effects of the attack.

The judge acknowledged that the four offenders had faced difficult circumstances in Afghanistan but stressed that their backgrounds could not justify the offences.

All four offenders were ordered to remain on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely and were made subject to sexual harm prevention orders.
