Customs Raises Valuation of Raisins From Three Countries

Customs Increases Raisin Valuation for Imports From China Iran Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: (News Desk)  – The Directorate General of Customs Valuation has revised upward the customs values of raisins imported into Pakistan from China, Iran and Afghanistan under a new valuation ruling.

Under the revised rates, raisins imported from Iran have been valued at $1.59 per kilogram, while the customs value for Afghan raisins has been fixed at $1.63 per kilogram. Raisins imported from China will now carry a customs value of $1.55 per kilogram.

According to the ruling, the previous customs values for imported raisins were considered relatively low, prompting authorities to launch a fresh valuation exercise to protect government revenue.

Importers and other stakeholders were given an opportunity to provide supporting documents, including sales tax invoices and verified export documents. However, the ruling stated that the required documentation was not submitted by the stakeholders.

Customs authorities subsequently determined the revised values using information gathered through market surveys. The exercise also considered import data from the previous 90 days and prevailing prices in the domestic market.

Officials said the new customs values were determined through a fair and transparent process in accordance with applicable laws.

The revised valuation will apply to imported raisins subject to the relevant legal requirements and conditions.
