PTI October 4 March: Party Accepts Government Invitation for Talks

Gohar Ali Khan says the meeting will be held at the National Assembly speaker's office, while Achakzai refuses to meet in government offices.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has agreed to hold talks with the government before the PTI October 4 march. Party Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed this in a statement.

He said the government’s message about a meeting had reached the party. PTI accepted it after opposition leaders took a decision in their meeting.

Representatives from both sides will sit together at 12pm tomorrow. The meeting will be held in the office of the National Assembly speaker.

Earlier, PTI moved its march toward Islamabad from September 27 to October 4. The party says it wants the release of its jailed founding chairman and the return of constitutional supremacy.

Gohar said PTI’s doors have always been open for talks. He added that the party would welcome any delegation sent by the government.

He also spoke about terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said it should not be used for politics, and the main focus must be on stopping it.

Gohar warned against governor’s rule in the province. In his view, it would raise tensions and create more divisions. He urged everyone to think carefully and avoid such a step.

Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said the opposition wants talks, but without any conditions. He said talks cannot go on while a condition hangs over them. He also promised that the march from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be peaceful.

Gohar made it clear that the march will go on until the party’s demands are met.

Meanwhile, TTAP chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai said he will not meet the prime minister or the speaker in their official offices. He said he could meet them at a residence, or even under a tree.

Achakzai also questioned how the government was formed and said the mandate of millions of people was taken away.
