Rawalpindi reports nine confirmed dengue cases this year

Islamabad:(Web Desk) – Health facilities across Rawalpindi have screened 4,339 patients for dengue fever during the current year, with 4,010 suspected cases recorded and nine subsequently confirmed, according to official surveillance data issued by the District Health Authority.

The latest daily epidemiological report stated that one suspected dengue patient is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, while no confirmed dengue patient is hospitalised. No dengue-related deaths have been reported in the district so far this year.

To control mosquito breeding and limit the spread of the disease, authorities have deployed 1,400 specialised surveillance teams, including 985 indoor and 415 outdoor teams.

These teams have inspected more than 4.88 million residential properties and approximately 1.69 million outdoor sites throughout Rawalpindi.

During the inspections, dengue larvae were detected at 157,530 residential locations and 22,767 outdoor sites. Authorities subsequently carried out chemical and physical eradication measures at 180,297 mosquito breeding sites.

Officials reported that Rawalpindi Cantonment recorded the highest concentration of positive vector samples in the district.

Authorities have also intensified enforcement of anti-dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs). So far this year, 2,543 FIRs have been registered, 652 commercial and residential premises have been sealed, and 2,119 challans have been issued.

Fines amounting to Rs2.568 million have also been imposed on individuals and establishments found violating anti-dengue measures.

Health authorities said surveillance activities and field inspections would continue across 17,859 registered hotspots in the district to control mosquito breeding and reduce the risk of seasonal dengue transmission.
