PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Japarov agree on new trade goals, sign key deals during Bishkek visit

Pakistan & Kyrgyzstan – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – Pakistan Kyrgyzstan trade is set for a big jump. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced plans to raise trade between the two nations to $200 million within just two years.

He shared this goal while speaking at a joint press event in Bishkek. He stood beside Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov at the presidential palace.

Right now, trade between the two countries is quite small. It stands at only $16 million a year. PM Shehbaz said this number does not match the strong bond the two nations share.

He called Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan close friends. He said their ties go far beyond simple trade numbers.

During the talks, both leaders spoke about ways to grow business links. They agreed to help private companies from both sides work more closely together.

A new transit trade deal was also praised by PM Shehbaz. He called it a smart and useful step forward.

Another exciting move came up too. Lahore and the Kyrgyz city of Osh will now become twin cities. This step aims to bring people from both places closer through culture and shared events.

Beyond trade, the two nations also agreed to fight terrorism together. They also plan to work as partners on climate change issues.

PM Shehbaz thanked the Kyrgyz leader for his warm welcome. He also wished Kyrgyzstan well on its Independence Day.

He gave extra praise for Kyrgyzstan’s new seat as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. He also praised the country for hosting the recent SCO summit with great success.

After their meeting ended, something special happened. President Japarov personally drove PM Shehbaz to the airport himself. This simple act showed the warmth between the two leaders.

Earlier that day, PM Shehbaz received a grand welcome at the palace. He was given a formal guard of honour upon arrival.

Several Deals Signed

Before the press talk, top officials from both sides signed many agreements. These deals cover trade, education, safety, and technology.

Foreign ministries from both nations agreed on a new cooperation plan for 2026 and 2027. Research groups from Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan also agreed to study strategy topics together.

Officials also completed trade agreements to make cross-border business smoother. Both sides signed a treaty to allow criminal extradition when needed.

Interior ministries from each side signed a fresh anti-drug deal. This aims to stop the illegal flow of drugs and dangerous chemicals.

Health teams from both countries agreed to work on medical training. Education officials also promised to build stronger school ties.

Environment departments joined hands too. They plan to fight climate change side by side.

Universities and defence institutes from both nations agreed to work on shared research goals. Even digital finance groups signed a deal to work on virtual assets together.

Postal services from both countries also joined forces. This move aims to grow e-commerce and mail services between the two lands.

Finally, business chambers from both sides signed a deal too. This aims to grow trade partnerships even further in coming years.

This visit marks a fresh start for closer Pakistan Kyrgyzstan trade and friendship in the years ahead.
