Punjab Tightens Monitoring of School Funds Across Province
Education Department Seeks Audit Committee Status From Districts
LAHORE: (Staff Reporter) – The Punjab Education Department has decided to strengthen oversight of school funds across the province, directing district education authorities to step up monitoring and auditing procedures.
According to an official notification, all district education authorities have been instructed to submit details regarding the status of audit committees established at schools.
The department has directed schools to constitute the required audit committees within three days. Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the respective education authorities have also been asked to provide a response regarding compliance.
Schools that fail to establish an audit committee within the prescribed timeframe will be required to explain the reasons for non-compliance.
Under the new monitoring mechanism, the District Audit Committee will be responsible for auditing between 30 and 40 percent of schools and submitting its findings to the Punjab Education Department.
The department has already issued guidelines to schools aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the use of school funds.
The latest directives are intended to ensure greater financial oversight and help prevent irregularities in the management and utilisation of funds allocated to schools across Punjab.
