ISLAMABAD:(Showbiz Desk) – Pakistani actress Hira Soomro has expressed grief and anger over the reported death of an elderly Pakistani woman who allegedly became the victim of a fraudulent travel scheme while preparing for a religious journey.

Taking to Instagram, Hira condemned people who exploit innocent individuals for financial gain, particularly those who take advantage of people travelling for religious purposes.

“Yeh qoum barbaad hai jo masoomon per zulm karti hai. Allah se darna bhool gaye hain yeh log,” she wrote, expressing the view that a society that oppresses innocent people is ultimately doomed and that people have forgotten their fear of Allah.

Her comments came as public attention grew around the reported case of 60-year-old Anwar Bibi, who allegedly fell victim to a fake travel arrangement while preparing to travel for religious purposes.

According to reports circulating online, prohibited substances were allegedly placed inside her luggage without her knowledge before she travelled to Madina. She was subsequently arrested and reportedly sentenced to 25 years in prison over an offence she was said to have been unaware of.

After spending approximately two years in custody, Anwar Bibi reportedly died in prison. Her body was later returned to her hometown of Jaranwala, Punjab, where news of her death triggered grief and anger.

The reported case has renewed concerns about fraudulent travel operators who allegedly target unsuspecting travellers by exploiting their trust and religious intentions. Such schemes can expose vulnerable people to serious financial, legal and personal consequences.

Hira’s comments have struck a chord with social media users, with discussions increasingly focusing on the need to safeguard ordinary citizens from deceptive travel networks and individuals who exploit religious faith for personal benefit.
