CTD, Police Intensify Cyber Crackdown Against Social Media Misuse

Islamabad: (Staff Reporter) –  The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), police, and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) have intensified cyber monitoring and enforcement measures against misuse of social media platforms.

Authorities have warned citizens that forwarding unverified sectarian content is a punishable offence and can lead to legal action.

Officials said some social media accounts operating from abroad are being used to spread material that could disrupt public order and create tensions.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has started blocking accounts and websites identified by law enforcement agencies as sources of harmful or provocative content.

A specialised cyber patrolling unit has also been established within the NCCIA to monitor online activities and take action against violations.
