Army Major Martyred During Operation Against Militants In North Waziristan

Security Forces Eliminate 12 Militants In Operations

RAWALPINDI: (Special Reporter) – Pakistan’s security forces have killed 12 militants during two separate intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan and Balochistan, while a Pakistan Army major embraced martyrdom during an armed encounter in North Waziristan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said five militants affiliated with the banned group Fitna al-Khawarij were eliminated during an intelligence-based operation in the Razmak area of North Waziristan. The operation was conducted after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.

During the intense exchange of fire, Major Hafiz Ihsan Elahi, 34, from Mianwali district, was martyred while leading his troops from the front. The ISPR described him as a courageous officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple attacks against security personnel, law enforcement agencies, and civilians.

In another operation carried out in Nushki district of Balochistan on the night of July 30 and 31, security forces targeted militants belonging to Fitna al-Hindustan based on intelligence reports.

The ISPR stated that the militants’ hideout was identified and destroyed through a swift operation, resulting in the killing of seven militants, including a suicide bomber. A large quantity of ammunition and improvised explosive devices was also recovered and neutralized.

Sanitisation operations are continuing in both areas to clear any remaining threats. The military said the counter-terrorism campaign under the framework of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue to eliminate terrorism and protect national security.

The armed forces reiterated that the sacrifices of their personnel further strengthen their resolve to defend the country against all threats.
