KP Floods Death Toll 28: Monsoon Rains Wreak Havoc Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

KP – (Staff Correpondent/Web Desk) – The KP floods death toll 28 has shocked families across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as monsoon rains keep pounding the province. Rescue teams are working hard to reach cut-off villages and save lives. Officials say the situation may still get worse in the coming days.

Rain has not stopped since July 19. Roads are broken, homes are damaged, and many families have lost everything. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority, known as PDMA, shared fresh numbers on the growing crisis.

Sadly, children make up most of the victims. Out of 28 deaths, fifteen were children and three were women. Many died when roofs of old homes gave way under heavy rain. In Akakhel, an area in Khyber district, two young kids lost their lives when their house roof caved in during a fresh spell of rain.

Nearly 29 people are also injured. This group includes nine women and seven kids. Rescue 1122 teams are helping the injured reach hospitals as fast as they can.

The rain has badly hurt local homes. Ten houses are fully destroyed. Another 47 homes have major damage, and 37 more have partial damage. Families in these areas now need shelter, food, and clean water.

A government school in Akora Khattak, Nowshera, also took heavy damage. Floodwater broke the school’s boundary wall and harmed other school property. About 120 students study there. Education officials visited the school and promised quick repair work.

Many Districts Under Water

This flood has touched many parts of KP. Areas like Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Bajaur, Swabi, Chitral, Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Tank, Torghar, Kurram, and Waziristan are all facing damage. Locals in these zones say their farms and land have also suffered big losses.

Some residents feel upset too. They claim no government team has visited their village yet, even after so much damage. People want faster help and support from local leaders.

PDMA Steps Up Relief Work

PDMA said relief work is moving ahead with support from Rescue 1122 and local district teams. Officials have ordered faster delivery of food, tents, and other basic supplies to hit areas.

The authority also shared a public warning. People are asked to avoid travel unless truly needed. Tourist spots and weak, unstable areas should be avoided until the weather turns calm again.

As rain continues to fall across Peshawar and nearby districts, more damage may still occur. Local families hope the government sends quick help before the situation grows even harder to manage.
