Pakistan Urges US, Iran Restraint Amid Rising Tensions

Pakistan Calls For Dialogue As US-Iran Tensions Continue Escalating

ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – Pakistan has expressed concern over escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, urging both sides to exercise restraint and return to dialogue to avoid further instability in the region.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said on Thursday that Pakistan would continue encouraging Washington and Tehran to halt hostilities and resume technical-level negotiations under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that Islamabad helped facilitate last month.

During his weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Andrabi acknowledged that the implementation of the MoU was facing difficulties but stressed that Pakistan remained committed to supporting diplomatic efforts and reducing tensions.

“While the implementation of the MoU is facing challenges, Pakistan will continue to encourage all sides to end violence and resume technical-level talks in accordance with the agreement,” he said.

The spokesperson said Pakistan was closely monitoring developments in the region and hoped that both countries would continue respecting the commitments made under the agreement.

He further emphasized Pakistan’s position that commercial shipping and oil tankers should be allowed safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a key international trade route affected by rising tensions.
