England T20 – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Board of Control for Cricket in India will hold a BCCI review T20 team England meeting after the squad’s poor show on the recent tour. The reigning T20 World Champions have lost five matches in a row, and the board wants answers.
India’s fall from grace has been hard to watch. After winning the T20 World Cup in March, the team looked unstoppable. But things changed fast during the tours of Ireland and England.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the news while attending the ICC’s annual meeting in Edinburgh. He told AFP that the board is closely watching the team’s form. A review meeting with core team members will happen once the England series wraps up on July 19.
The numbers tell a rough story. India lost 2-0 in Ireland last month. Then, in England, things got worse. The team was bowled out for just 76 runs in Nottingham, suffering their biggest T20 defeat ever, by 125 runs.
On Thursday, India lost the fourth T20 by nine wickets in Bristol. England chased down 158 runs with more than six overs left. That result gave England an unbeatable 3-0 series lead, with one match still to play.
Saikia, however, is not panicking. He called this a normal part of the sport. He said such phases happen in international cricket and that the board sees it as a temporary dip, not a deep problem.
Still, there are real reasons behind the slump. India has been missing two key players. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Hardik Pandya both sat out due to workload and injury concerns. Their absence has clearly hurt the team’s balance.
There’s also a new face under pressure. Teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who made his debut at just 15 years old, has struggled to find his footing. His scores of 14, 13, and 15 runs show a talented player still finding his feet at the international level.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir now faces tough questions. The team he leads holds the world title, yet form has dipped sharply within months. Fans and experts alike are asking what changed.
The final T20 of the series will be played in Southampton on Saturday. It won’t affect the series result, but it may offer clues about the team’s mindset heading into the review.
After the T20 series, India and England will also play three ODI matches. This gives the team a chance to bounce back before the review talks begin.
For now, all eyes are on the BCCI’s next move. Whether changes come in team selection, workload management, or coaching strategy, the coming weeks will be important for Indian cricket.
One thing is clear. Even world champions face rough patches. How India responds to this test could shape their next steps in global cricket.
