US Conducts New Military Strikes Against Iran After Maritime Incident

WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – The United States has launched a new series of military strikes against targets in Iran, according to a statement issued by the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
In a post on the social media platform X, CENTCOM said its forces carried out “a series of powerful strikes” in response to what it described as Iran’s alleged attacks on commercial vessels carrying civilians in international waters.

According to the statement, the military action followed alleged attacks on three commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM claimed the incidents were unjustified, posed a threat to maritime security and constituted a violation of the existing ceasefire.
Reports said flames and thick black smoke were seen rising from the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas following the strikes.
US officials stated that the operation targeted Iranian air defence systems, coastal surveillance facilities, surface-to-air missile sites, anti-ship cruise missile launchers and drone launch locations.
Iranian authorities had not immediately commented on the reported strikes or the claims made by the United States at the time of reporting.
