Kinza Hashmi says criticism helps her grow, but hate serves no purpose

“Criticism about my work can teach me something, but hate cannot,” she said

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistani actress Kinza Hashmi has spoken about dealing with criticism and online negativity, saying constructive feedback can help artists improve, while hate and personal attacks have no positive value.

Appearing on the talk show Gloss Etc with Mahila Rehman, Hashmi drew a distinction between respectful criticism and hateful comments, stressing that people should explain their concerns in a constructive manner.

“Criticism about my work can teach me something, but hate cannot,” she said. “If you are criticising someone, explain what they are doing wrong and how they can improve. That way, everyone can become better at what they do.”

The actress said harsh language often discourages people rather than motivating them to improve. She added that even adults may stop listening when criticism is delivered with anger and negativity.

Hashmi also discussed the pressure created by social media, saying she prefers to value the opinions of her family and close circle over comments from strangers online.

“I think social media pressure and constantly listening to what people say can become overwhelming,” she said. “If your family is happy with you and the people around you are satisfied with you, then that is enough.”

Her remarks received support from social media users, with many agreeing that constructive criticism is more meaningful than online hate.

Kinza Hashmi is currently being praised for her portrayal of Rubab Agha in the drama serial Leader, where viewers have appreciated the confidence, emotional depth and nuance she brings to the character.
