Police Intensify Crackdown After Five Dacoits Killed In Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: (Web Desk)  Five alleged dacoits wanted in multiple criminal cases were killed during three separate police encounters in different areas of Gujranwala, according to reports on Sunday.

In the jurisdiction of Wahandu Police Station, two suspects identified as Muhammad Shahzad and Abid Ali lost their lives during an operation. Police said both men were wanted in numerous cases involving robbery, dacoity, theft and murder. Authorities stated that the suspects were allegedly shot by their own accomplices while attempting to evade arrest. Cases against them had been registered in Gujranwala, Kasur and Nankana Sahib districts.

In another encounter in the Gakhar Mandi area, two more alleged criminals, Ameer Hamza and Nadeem Masih, were killed. Police said the pair were involved in more than 25 cases of robbery, theft and dacoity. Besides Gujranwala, they were also wanted in criminal cases registered in Lahore.

In a separate operation within the limits of Girja Ghar Police Station, a most-wanted suspect, Salahuddin alias Kaku, was killed. According to police, he was allegedly involved in dozens of criminal activities, including armed robberies, dacoities, theft cases and attacks on law enforcement personnel. Authorities claimed he was also struck by gunfire from his own accomplices during the encounter.

Following the incidents, City Police Officer Dr. Sardar Ghayas Gul Khan took notice of the activities of criminal gangs operating in the region and sought detailed reports from divisional police officers.

The CPO also ordered the formation of special police teams to track down and arrest absconding suspects linked to the criminal networks. Acting on these directives, law enforcement agencies have established checkpoints at various locations across the Gujranwala division to strengthen security and intensify the crackdown on crime.
