Heavy Rain Brings Relief From Heat Across Punjab

Lahore and Punjab Receive Rainfall After Week of Extreme Heat

LAHORE: (Web Desk) – After enduring a prolonged spell of intense heat, residents of Lahore and several parts of northeast Punjab received much-needed relief on Saturday as heavy rain and strong winds swept across the region.

Dark clouds covered Lahore early in the morning, turning daytime skies gloomy before heavy rainfall began across various parts of the city. The downpour significantly lowered temperatures and improved weather conditions.

According to weather officials, wind speeds reached around 17 kilometres per hour, while humidity levels stood at 61 percent, making the atmosphere considerably more pleasant after days of scorching temperatures.

Rainfall accompanied by hailstorms was also reported in Gujranwala and nearby areas. Similar weather conditions were witnessed in Narowal, where strong winds and showers provided relief from the prevailing heatwave.

Residents of Kharian also welcomed the rainfall, which helped break the spell of extreme temperatures that had persisted for several days.

Meanwhile, the weather remained hot in Islamabad, where the Meteorological Department forecast a maximum temperature of around 40 degrees Celsius. However, officials predicted gusty winds and light rain in the federal capital later in the day.

In Karachi, hot and humid conditions continued, with the temperature recorded at 31 degrees Celsius during the morning. The Met Office forecast that the mercury could rise to 38 degrees Celsius during the day.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that the current rain spell will continue across parts of Punjab into next week. Rainfall is also expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the evening hours.

The fresh spell of rain is expected to provide further relief to residents affected by the recent heatwave across northern and central regions of the country.
