US-Iran Deal ‘Very Close’ Amid War Threats: Trump

Trump Claims United States Iran Agreement Could Prevent Further Conflict

WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – Former U.S. President Donald Trump said American and Iranian negotiators are nearing a possible agreement aimed at easing tensions and preventing further conflict between the two nations.

Speaking in an interview with CBS News Trump stated that the proposed deal would prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons while ensuring its enriched uranium program is managed under acceptable conditions.

Trump stressed that he would only approve an agreement if it fully met U.S. expectations and national interests.

According to American media reports current discussions include reopening the Strait of Hormuz restoring certain Iranian assets and continuing diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran.

In an earlier interview Trump revealed that he planned to meet with his negotiating team to review Iran’s latest response and could decide by Sunday whether military operations should resume.

As reported by Axios Trump described the situation as having a “50 50” chance of either reaching a successful agreement or escalating into severe military action against Iran.

He added that envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would join discussions regarding Tehran’s proposal while Vice President J. D. Vance is also expected to attend the meeting.

Trump further stated that the outcome would likely be either a stronger military response or a comprehensive diplomatic deal with Iran.

He acknowledged that opinions within U.S. leadership remain divided with some officials favoring diplomacy while others support renewed military action. However he dismissed claims that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu feared Washington might accept a weak agreement.

Trump emphasized that any final arrangement must directly address Iran’s uranium enrichment activities and its current uranium reserves.

According to Axios these critical issues may still remain unresolved under the memorandum of understanding currently under discussion between the United States and Iran. The proposal reportedly focuses on ending hostilities and extending negotiations over the next thirty days.
