Lebanon Israel Ceasefire Violated — President Demands US Action on Israeli Strikes and Home Demolitions

Lebanon vs Israel ceasefire – (Web Desk) – Lebanon Israel ceasefire violated agreement has become a growing crisis, with 74 civilians killed in just three days as Israeli strikes continue across southern Lebanon despite a truce declared last month.

Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed the deaths, including at least seven people killed in the small southern town of Saksakiyeh. Since fighting resumed on March 2, a total of 2,869 people have lost their lives. Among them are 584 medics, women, and children.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with US Ambassador Michel Issa on Monday. He called on Washington to push Israel to stop military operations and end the destruction of homes in the south. Israel says it is targeting areas where Hezbollah fighters are hiding among civilians.

Israel has been bulldozing villages in southern Lebanon. It says this is necessary to protect against future Hezbollah attacks from its self-declared security zone along the border. Critics say it is collective punishment against Lebanese civilians.

A third round of talks between Lebanese and Israeli representatives is set for May 14 and 15 in Washington. Former ambassador Simon Karam will lead Lebanon’s delegation. These are the highest-level direct contacts between the two countries in decades.

However, not everyone in Lebanon supports the talks. Hezbollah has demanded the government walk away from the negotiations entirely.

Iran, which backs Hezbollah, proposed a deal with the United States that included security guarantees for Lebanon and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump has rejected the offer.

The Human Cost

Over 1.2 million people have been forced out of their homes in Lebanon, most of them from the south. Israel reports 17 of its soldiers and two northern civilians have been killed since hostilities resumed.
