Ronaldo Messi Lose Millions Of Instagram Followers

Meta Removes Spam Accounts Causing Major Celebrity Follower Drops

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Meta Platforms has reportedly removed millions of fake, spam and inactive accounts from Instagram, leading to a sharp decline in follower counts for several global celebrities, including football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The sudden drop in followers initially sparked speculation among users, with many believing an organized unfollow campaign was underway. However, reports suggest the reduction is linked to Instagram’s large-scale cleanup operation aimed at improving transparency and removing bots and inactive profiles from the platform.

Cristiano Ronaldo, currently the most-followed athlete on Instagram, reportedly lost around eight million followers, reducing his total from 673 million to 666 million. Lionel Messi also witnessed a decline of nearly five million followers, bringing his total down from 512 million to 507 million.

Among other high-profile personalities, Kylie Jenner experienced one of the biggest drops, reportedly losing 15 million followers. Virat Kohli lost around two million followers, while Justin Bieber and Pope Francis also saw notable decreases.

Experts believe Meta’s move is designed to improve authenticity and engagement accuracy on Instagram. High-profile accounts often attract fake followers and automated bots, and their removal could provide celebrities and brands with more genuine audience interaction, especially for sponsorships and advertising partnerships.

Although Instagram has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cleanup campaign, many analysts are describing the move as a major step toward increasing credibility and transparency on social media platforms.
