Anthropic Secures Major AI Computing Deal With SpaceX
Musk appeared to soften his stance on Wednesday
SAN FRANCISCO (Web Desk): AI startup Anthropic has announced a major computing partnership with SpaceX, securing access to a massive data center to support the growing demand for its AI services.
Under the agreement, Anthropic will use the full computing capacity of SpaceX’s Colossus 1 data center in Memphis, Tennessee, a facility originally built for Elon Musk’s AI venture xAI.
The deal will provide Anthropic with access to more than 300 megawatts of computing capacity powered by over 220,000 Nvidia AI chips within one month. The company said the added capacity would enhance services for subscribers of its Claude Pro and Claude Max plans.
Anthropic also announced expanded access to Claude Code, its AI-powered coding assistant capable of writing, editing, and debugging software. Paying users will now be able to use the tool for longer periods without restrictions during peak hours.

The partnership comes despite previous public tensions between Elon Musk and Anthropic leadership. Earlier this year, Musk criticized Anthropic on social media, while Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei repeatedly warned about potential risks associated with artificial intelligence.
However, Musk appeared to soften his stance on Wednesday, saying he had recently met senior Anthropic staff and was impressed by their professionalism and commitment.
In a separate post on X, Musk also revealed plans to dissolve xAI as a standalone company, stating that future AI products would operate under “SpaceXAI.”
The announcement comes amid intense competition between Anthropic and OpenAI as both companies race to develop advanced AI agents for businesses, finance, and software development.
Meanwhile, the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure continues to raise concerns in the United States over energy consumption, environmental impact, and rising electricity costs linked to large-scale data centers.
