LAHORE: (Web Desk) – In a major ongoing operation against crime, the Punjab Police has arrested nearly 59,000 proclaimed offenders during the first four months of the current year.
According to a police spokesperson, the arrests include around 16,000 high-priority suspects classified under A category, along with more than 42,000 individuals listed under B category.
The crackdown also led to the detention of over 20,900 court absconders, including more than 3,000 from A category and nearly 18,000 from B category.
Authorities further reported the arrest of more than 16,000 habitual offenders during the campaign. Among them were thousands of repeat offenders categorized under both A and B groups.

In a significant development, 37 proclaimed offenders who had fled abroad and were wanted in serious criminal cases were tracked down, arrested, and brought back to Pakistan.
Officials added that thousands more suspects—including proclaimed offenders, court absconders, and habitual criminals—were apprehended as the large-scale operation continues across the province.
The police emphasized that the crackdown is part of a broader effort to strengthen law enforcement, ensure public safety, and bring fugitives to justice.
