GILGIT: (Web Desk) – In Gilgit-Baltistan, Deputy Director Information Farooq Ahmed gave a detailed briefing to newly appointed Secretary Information Rahman Shah after he formally assumed charge of the department.
The session was attended by senior officials including the Deputy Secretary Jalauddin, assistant directors, and information officers from across the department. The Secretary was updated on key initiatives including the Advertisement Policy 2025 for print media, the Digital Media Advertisement Policy, the Media Endowment Fund, and several ongoing development projects within the information department.

Speaking during the briefing, Secretary Information emphasized the growing influence of social media and the urgent need for a strong, coordinated policy framework. He stressed the importance of developing an effective system to counter fake news and online misinformation. On journalists’ welfare, he directed officials to accelerate work on the Endowment Fund, assuring that all available resources would be used to support media professionals. He also instructed the department to initiate a comprehensive awareness campaign in collaboration with the Election Commission ahead of the upcoming general elections to ensure voters are well-informed and actively participate in the democratic process.
