US VP Vance’s Islamabad visit put on hold: report
Reports also indicate that a two-week ceasefire in Iran is set to expire on Wednesday
Washington: (Web Desk) – The planned visit of US Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan for the second round of Iran–US negotiations has been postponed, according to American media reports.
Citing US officials familiar with the matter, American media stated that the postponement came after Iran did not respond regarding its participation in the upcoming talks. The visit, however, could be rescheduled at any time depending on developments.
Reports also indicate that a two-week ceasefire in Iran is set to expire on Wednesday, while it remains unclear what steps either Tehran or Washington will take next. US President Donald Trump has reportedly suggested that he is not in favor of extending the ceasefire without a long-term agreement.
Meanwhile, Iran has said that no final decision has been made yet about sending a delegation to Islamabad for the negotiations. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated in an interview that Iran will decide on participation only if the talks are deemed productive.

Baghaei also strongly criticized recent US actions, alleging that targeting Iranian ships and disrupting maritime trade in international waters constitutes a serious violation of international law and amounts to piracy and state terrorism.
He further emphasized Iran’s mistrust of Washington, saying that such actions raise serious questions about US intentions in the region.
