Senator Chishti Urges Global Unity for Peace

IPU Address Stresses Unity, Dialogue and Peace Efforts

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – At the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, Amir Waliuddin Chishti called for stronger global cooperation to address rising conflicts and humanitarian challenges, urging nations to work collectively for peace, justice, and democratic stability.

In his speech, the senator voiced concern over ongoing crises in regions such as Gaza, Lebanon, the Persian Gulf, and the Russia–Ukraine conflict, along with instability in Afghanistan and violence in parts of Africa. He also highlighted the continued denial of the right to self-determination for people in Jammu and Kashmir.

Chishti stressed that in an increasingly interconnected world, no country can effectively deal with these challenges alone. He urged parliamentary leaders worldwide to adopt a unified approach to resolving shared global issues.

Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, he referred to the Islamabad peace initiative led by Shehbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, and Asim Munir. He said Pakistan continues to play a constructive role in encouraging dialogue and de-escalation, expressing hope that future rounds of talks will take place in Islamabad.

He called on the international parliamentary community to actively support Pakistan’s peace initiatives through practical engagement, emphasizing that lasting global stability depends on resolving longstanding disputes and upholding international law and human dignity.

The senator also pointed out that democratic nations must focus on tackling common challenges such as poverty, disease, climate change, migration, and illiteracy, rather than being drawn into conflicts.

Concluding his address, Chishti reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and urged nations to unite for a more stable and cooperative global future.
