Pakistan Youth Delegation Participates in UN ECOSOC Youth Forum

PMYP Delegation Engages in ECOSOC Youth Forum 2026

New York-(Special Correspondent/News Desk)-The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum 2026 was successfully held from April 14 to 16 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, convening young leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the globe. The Forum serves as a premier platform for youth engagement in advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
This year’s Forum focused on accelerating youth-led solutions for sustainable development, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular emphasis on inclusive growth, climate action, digital transformation, and meaningful youth participation in policymaking.

Pakistan was prominently represented by a dynamic youth delegation, nominated by the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) under the visionary leadership of its Chairman, Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan.

Pakistan’s Youth Drive Climate Solutions Backed by UK Initiatives

The delegation comprised:

They were joined and supported by officials from the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations, including Ms. Saima Saleem, Counsellor.

Throughout the three-day Forum, the Pakistani youth delegates demonstrated active and meaningful engagement by participating in high-level plenary sessions, contributing to thematic and side events, moderating discussions in various parallel sessions, engaged in bilateral and multilateral meetings with key international stakeholders.

The delegation held productive interactions with distinguished counterparts, including the President of the ECOSOC Youth Forum, senior leadership from the UN Youth Office (Assistant Secretary-General level), the President of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), the Youth Minister of Zambia, as well as youth representatives and counterpart delegates from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Turkey, Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom, France, and other countries, fostering international collaboration and exchange of best practices.

On the sidelines of the Forum, H.E. Mr. Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, hosted a welcome dinner in honor of the PMYP delegation. The gathering was also attended by Dr. Shabana Saleem, Director General (Population), Ministry of National Health Services, along with senior officials including Mr. Usman Jadoon (Deputy Permanent Representative), Ms. Saima Saleem, Mr. Rashid, and Mr. Imran.

The participation of Pakistan’s youth delegation reflects the country’s strong commitment to empowering young people and ensuring their meaningful inclusion in global development discourse. Their contributions at the ECOSOC Youth Forum 2026 underscored Pakistan’s proactive role in advancing youth-led initiatives and fostering international cooperation for sustainable development.
