Islamabad Imposes Early Business Closure Timings Under Austerity Measures

All marriage halls, marquees and event venues will also close at 10:00 PM

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The district administration has issued a new notification limiting business operating hours across the city under austerity measures, with effect from April 16, 2026.

According to the revised order, all shops, markets and shopping malls will close at 8:00 PM throughout the week, including weekends. However, medical stores, hospitals, laboratories, petrol pumps, CNG stations, and milk and dairy shops have been exempted from these restrictions.

Hotels, restaurants, tandoors, grocery stores, fruit and vegetable vendors, and bakeries will be allowed to operate until 10:00 PM, while takeaway and home delivery services will remain permitted.

All marriage halls, marquees and event venues will also close at 10:00 PM, including private functions. Additionally, sports clubs and gyms will shut down at 8:00 PM.

Officials said the notification will remain in force until further orders, and strict compliance has been directed by the district magistrate.
