Balochistan reports zero polio cases in 15 months

Balochistan makes progress toward becoming polio-free with no cases

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Efforts to eliminate polio in Balochistan are showing encouraging results, as the province has reported no new polio cases in the past 15 months, officials said on Tuesday. The development is being seen as a significant milestone in Pakistan’s broader anti-polio campaign.

Provincial Health Minister Bakht Kakar described the achievement as a major success of ongoing vaccination drives, crediting health teams for reaching even the most remote and mountainous regions to ensure children receive polio drops.

Officials say the progress is the result of coordinated planning, improved strategy by the health department, and strict monitoring of vaccination campaigns. Communication and Coordination Officer for Polio Inam-ul-Haq said efforts will continue until Balochistan is permanently free of the disease.

Security personnel have also played a key role in supporting vaccination teams, ensuring their protection during field operations. Authorities acknowledged the sacrifices made by security forces in safeguarding health workers during national immunization drives.

Health officials and community representatives continue to urge parents to vaccinate their children, stressing that polio drops remain the most effective protection against lifelong disability caused by the disease.
