PTCL begins submarine cable repair, internet disruption expected

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has announced planned maintenance work on a major submarine cable system, aimed at fixing a technical fault in coordination with an international cable consortium.

According to the company, the repair operation will begin on April 14 and continue until April 20. During this period, internet users across the country may experience slow speeds or intermittent connectivity issues, particularly during evening hours.

PTCL clarified that the maintenance is part of a routine but necessary repair process to ensure long-term stability and improved performance of international connectivity infrastructure. The work will be carried out with support from global technical partners managing the submarine cable network.

Officials advised users to expect possible fluctuations in internet services during the maintenance window, while assuring that efforts will be made to minimize disruptions as much as possible.
