Bangladesh vs Pakistan ODI Suspended After Lightning and Heavy Rain
Bangladesh vs Pakistan ODI paused early due to lightning, rain disrupts chase
The second ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh was stopped early in Bangladesh’s innings because of thunder and lightning near the ground. The umpires asked players to leave the field to stay safe.
Bangladesh was 27 for 3 in just 6.3 overs when the game was paused. Officials said it was a precaution, as lightning can be very dangerous for players and match staff. Ground staff said it would take around 40 to 45 minutes to get the field ready once the rain stops. If conditions improve, the match could resume around 9:45 pm. Super soppers were already out to clear water from the pitch and outfield.
Earlier, Pakistan batted first and scored 274 all out in 47.3 overs. Muaz Sadaqat led the innings with 75 runs from 46 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes. Salman Ali Agha added 64 runs with seven boundaries and two sixes. Mohammad Rizwan also scored 44, while Sahibzada Farhan made 31 and Faheem Ashraf 14.
For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain took three wickets and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked two, keeping Pakistan’s scoring in check at key moments.
Pakistan came into the match under pressure after losing the first ODI by eight wickets. Bangladesh had won easily and led the series 1-0. Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz said he wanted to bowl first again. Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi asked his batters to stay confident and learn from mistakes.
In the first ODI, Pakistan tried four new batters, but Bangladesh’s Nahid Rana bowled brilliantly, taking five wickets for 24 runs. Pakistan managed only 115 runs, which Bangladesh chased easily. Tanzid Hasan scored an unbeaten 67, with Najmul Hossain Shanto adding 27, securing a big win for Bangladesh.
Pakistan will now try to bounce back in this second ODI and level the series.
