ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Monday welcomed Jane Marriott, the British High Commission envoy to Pakistan, during her visit to the National Emergencies Operation Centre at NDMA headquarters. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom in disaster risk reduction and strengthening climate resilience.
During the visit, the British High Commissioner held discussions with NDMA Chairman Inam Haider Malik. He briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s disaster preparedness framework and the country’s awareness and response mechanisms designed to manage natural disasters more effectively.

Officials also outlined the operational and technical capabilities of the National Emergencies Operation Centre, explaining how it monitors risks and coordinates emergency responses across the country.
The visiting delegation was introduced to NDMA’s digital platforms developed for disaster monitoring and early risk assessment. These tools include modern technology initiatives aimed at improving early warning systems and strengthening response capacity during emergencies. Authorities also presented an overview of NDMA’s mobile application and other digital systems that assist in disaster management.
Chairman Malik further explained NDMA’s broader role in national disaster management and its efforts to reduce potential risks. The briefing also included an assessment of possible threats that Pakistan and other countries could face in 2026.
High Commissioner Marriott reviewed NDMA’s initiatives and praised the authority’s integrated and technology-driven approach to disaster preparedness and emergency response.
Both sides agreed on the need to enhance collaboration between Pakistan and the United Kingdom in order to improve disaster preparedness and tackle growing climate-related risks.
