Esha Gupta Shares Harrowing Experience During Abu Dhabi Airport Shutdown

MUMBAI: (Web Desk) – Esha Gupta has safely returned to India after being stranded in Abu Dhabi due to escalating tensions involving the US, Iran, and Israel, which caused widespread flight disruptions across the UAE. On Instagram, she shared vivid accounts of the confusion at Abu Dhabi airport, praising the UAE authorities and hotel staff for their composed and efficient response during the crisis.

She revealed that on February 28, the airport faced a temporary shutdown amid reports of missile strikes, leaving travelers uncertain and anxious. “Strangers were consoling each other, all calling their families back home… no one knew what the next minute held,” Esha wrote, describing the tense atmosphere.

Esha highlighted the professionalism of the UAE authorities, noting that passengers were provided with cash for meals and hotel stays while airport and hotel staff worked tirelessly to maintain calm among the stranded travelers.

She boarded the first commercial Etihad flight to Delhi on March 2, expressing heartfelt gratitude to both the Indian and UAE governments for ensuring the safe return of citizens. The disruptions followed rising tensions in the region, which had triggered flight cancellations across the Gulf.

UAE civil aviation authorities have since resumed limited operations and arranged special flights to help stranded passengers return home safely.
