Islamabad Sets February 28 Deadline for Motorcycle M-Tags
ICT Administration Announces Final Date for Motorcycle M-Tag Registration
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Islamabad Capital Territory administration has set February 28 as the final date for motorcycle owners to install M-Tags under the second phase of the citywide registration drive. From March 1, motorcycles without M-Tags will be barred from roads and impounded at police stations. Officials said the initiative aims to enhance vehicle monitoring, public safety, and law enforcement efficiency.
According to the Directorate of Excise and Taxation, over 2,000 motorcycles have already received M-Tags, with numbers expected to rise as the deadline approaches. To facilitate registration, M-Tag centres will remain open on holidays and weekends, with extra staff deployed to reduce waiting times. Information desks are also available to assist applicants with required documents.

The Director General of Excise emphasized that the campaign is part of a broader plan to improve vehicle identification and record-keeping in the federal capital. Citizens were urged to register their motorcycles before the deadline to avoid enforcement action from March 1, when non-compliant vehicles will be taken into custody. Authorities stressed that public cooperation is essential to make Islamabad safer and ensure smooth implementation of the system.
