Trump Open to Direct Talks With Iran
Trump Willing to Meet Iran’s Supreme Leader for Talks
WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that President Donald Trump is willing to hold talks with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, if Tehran signals readiness for dialogue. The remarks underline Washington’s stated preference for diplomacy rather than confrontation.
Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Rubio said President Trump favors reaching a negotiated settlement with Iran and remains open to direct engagement at the highest level. He emphasized that the US leadership believes meaningful progress on complex global disputes is only possible through dialogue.

“President Trump is prepared to meet anyone,” Rubio said, adding that even if Ayatollah Khamenei were to request talks at short notice, such a meeting could take place. He clarified that any potential meeting would not imply agreement between the two sides, but would reflect Trump’s belief that diplomatic engagement remains the most effective way to address longstanding tensions between Washington and Tehran.
