US sends second aircraft carrier to Middle East, warns Iran
US plans second aircraft carrier deployment as Trump warns Iran, amid rising tensions and renewed nuclear talks hopes globally watchful
US Vs IRAN – (Web Desk) – The United States is moving ahead with plans to send a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, as President Donald Trump warned Iran of serious consequences if it refuses to strike a deal on its nuclear programme. Tensions between Washington and Tehran have risen sharply following last month’s protests in Iran, which human rights groups claim resulted in thousands of deaths.
Trump has linked the avoidance of military action to Iran agreeing to limit its nuclear activities, which Western nations fear could be aimed at developing a nuclear weapon. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Trump said reaching an agreement was essential, warning that failure to do so would lead to “very traumatic” outcomes, something he said he hoped to avoid.
The US had already deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln to the region as a signal to Tehran. Now, several American media reports say the USS Gerald R. Ford and its accompanying ships will also be sent to the Middle East. According to The New York Times, the carrier group, currently operating in the Caribbean, is unlikely to return to its home base before late April or early May.
One more U.S. naval fleet is heading to Iran—experts say it may include the USS Gerald R. Ford, the most advanced U.S. aircraft carrier ever built.

Representatives of Iran and the United States, who have had no diplomatic relations since shortly after the revolution, held talks on the nuclear programme last week in Oman.
While no dates have been set for new talks, there have been indications that Trump is upbeat about the prospects for a deal.
Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu said after meeting Trump in Washington that the US leader believed he may clinch a “good deal”, though the Israeli prime minister himself expressed scepticism at the quality of any agreement if it didn’t also cover Iran’s ballistic missiles.

The United States joined Israel’s 12-day war against Iran in June, carrying out strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
But there is no consensus on what Washington would target in new strikes or whether it would seek to slacken supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s grip on power.
