NEW DELHI: (Web Desk) – India suffered a major blow ahead of their opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup as fast bowler Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed that Mohammed Siraj has been added to the squad as Rana’s replacement. Harshit Rana sustained a knee injury during a warm-up match against South Africa on February 4, which forced him to leave the field.

Following medical assessments, the Indian team’s medical panel declared the pacer unfit to participate in the mega event, ending his World Cup campaign before it began. The injury comes as a setback for India’s bowling plans just days before the tournament kickoff.
