Pakistan urges dialogue and diplomacy to address Iran unrest, strengthening EU relations while promoting regional peace and stability.
Mudassar Chaudhry – On Friday, Pakistan highlighted the importance of dialogue and diplomacy regarding the situation in Iran during a phone call between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and European Union Vice President Kaja Kallas, the Foreign Office reported.
The discussion came amid rising regional tensions over unrest in Iran, as European governments closely monitor Tehran’s handling of protests and evaluate wider security concerns.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar and Kallas stressed the need for ongoing dialogue and agreed to maintain close communication. They also welcomed the “positive momentum” in Pakistan-EU relations and explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation further.
European governments have in recent days condemned Iran’s crackdown to quell the anti-government protests that broke out last month over economic hardship and escalated into widespread demonstrations.
On Friday, the European Union’s aviation regulator urged airlines to avoid Iranian airspace, citing heightened risks linked to weapons systems, air-defense activity and the potential for misidentification amid elevated regional tensions, according to a Reuters report.
