ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic gas cylinder explosion in Sector G-7/2 and personally visited the site to review the situation.
Accompanied by relevant officials, he also visited PIMS Hospital to check on the condition of the injured and directed hospital staff to provide the best possible medical care.
According to official reports, the explosion occurred at 7:24 AM in a house in Sector G-7/2, resulting in 8 fatalities and 11 injuries. Chairman CDA stated that preliminary findings indicate the explosion was caused by a gas leak and emphasized that such incidents are more common during winter due to negligent handling of gas cylinders.
He assured the public that the affected families will receive assistance and confirmed that a transparent inquiry into the incident has been launched. The Capital Emergency Service responded immediately, reaching the site within five minutes and deploying firefighting, rescue, and medical units. A total of 45 personnel, supported by 10 ambulances and one rescue vehicle, participated in the rescue and relief operation.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa urged the public to exercise extreme caution while using gas cylinders and appliances to prevent such tragedies in the future.
