The protests followed a press conference in Florida in which President Trump announced criminal charges against President Maduro and said that Maduro and his wife were being transferred to New York to face justice. Trump claimed that the US military carried out an “extraordinary” operation in Venezuela’s capital, showcasing American air, land, and naval power.
The US president also stated that the United States would “run” Venezuela until a transfer of power takes place and said that American oil companies would operate in the country.
