NCCIA Additional Director Denied Bail in Bribery Case
During the hearing, the court approved the bail of two other officers
Islamabad: The bail plea of Chaudhry Sarfraz, Additional Director of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), has been rejected in a bribery case.
The case against NCCIA officers over allegations of accepting bribes was heard by a judge of the FIA Central Court. During the hearing, the court approved the bail of two other officers, while rejecting the bail application of Additional Director Chaudhry Sarfraz.
The court granted bail to NCCIA Deputy Director Zawar and Deputy Director Usman. Advocate Farooq Bajwa appeared before the court on behalf of the two deputy directors, while Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq represented Additional Director Chaudhry Sarfraz.
During arguments, counsel for Chaudhry Sarfraz contended that the FIA had failed to present concrete evidence of bribery against the accused. He argued that the original case involved an amount of Rs 9 million, whereas recoveries exceeding Rs 40 million were shown. He further maintained that no affected or complainant party had come forward against the accused.
