Explosion at Peshawar police station kills one, injures two.
A deadly blast at a Peshawar police station kills one officer and injures two others after stored explosives catch fire.
A huge explosion ripped through the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station on University Road in Peshawar on Sunday, killing one officer and injuring two others, officials reported.
According to the authorities, the explosion was caused by explosives stored within the CTD police station. The explosion caused a tremendous fire, which immediately devoured the warehouse area and spread flames throughout the building.
City Police Chief (CCPO) Mian Saeed said a section of the police station collapsed due to the impact of the explosion. “One officer lost his life, while two others sustained injuries,” he added.
A heavy contingent of police and rescue teams reached the scene soon after the explosion. Firefighters were seen battling the blaze, while ambulances transported the injured officers to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses reported thick smoke rising from the police station as rescue workers struggled to control the fire and clear debris from the collapsed structure.
