Afghanistan Pulls Out of Tri-Nation Cricket Series in Pakistan

The tri-nation series was scheduled to take place from November 17 to 29 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Kabul: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has officially withdrawn from the upcoming tri-nation cricket series scheduled to be held in Pakistan this November.

Citing rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the ACB has decided to cancel its participation in the series, which was set to feature Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. The move mirrors a growing trend seen previously with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which has also taken a cautious stance on playing matches in Pakistan.

The tri-nation series was scheduled to take place from November 17 to 29 in Rawalpindi and Lahore. The opening match between Pakistan and Afghanistan was to be played on November 17 in Rawalpindi, followed by Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka on November 19, also in Rawalpindi. The remaining five matches, including the final on November 29, were to be hosted at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Despite Afghanistan’s withdrawal, Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan in November remains on schedule. The two teams will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) from November 11 to 15.

With Afghanistan pulling out, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is now considering organizing a bilateral T20I series with Sri Lanka in place of the tri-nation event. A final decision on the revised fixtures is expected from the PCB in the coming days.
