Ishaq Dar Condemns Gaza Violence, Demands Justice for Palestinian People

Pakistan Urges Immediate Gaza Ceasefire at UN, Calls for Humanitarian Access

The recent United Nations Security Council meeting opened with expressions of gratitude for its convening and the participation of distinguished ministers. Secretary-General António Guterres was specially acknowledged for his thoughtful remarks, highlighting his ongoing commitment to peace and humanitarian support, particularly in Palestine. His dedication to alleviating human suffering continues to earn widespread respect.

Dar said; Today, we gather while Gaza faces one of the worst humanitarian disasters in recent memory. The suffering of the Palestinian people is heartbreaking. Thousands of lives have been lost, and many more are struggling daily. Homes, schools, hospitals, and even markets have been destroyed. Roads and water systems are gone. Communities are breaking apart. These aren’t just numbers — they are real people, grieving families, and innocent children.

According to global food experts, famine is already present in Gaza City, and it is close to spreading to other areas like Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah. Over half a million people are at immediate risk of starvation. More than 300,000 have already lost their homes, and nearly a million more could be forced to move soon. Violence continues daily, and the impact on women, children, and the elderly is devastating. Hostages are also suffering, caught in the middle of this crisis.

In the West Bank, illegal settlements continue to grow, violating international law and UN resolutions. These actions damage hopes for a peaceful solution and show a form of modern colonialism. This must stop if we want real peace.

Pakistan believes the time to act is now. We strongly urge:

  • An immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza;

  • Full humanitarian access and an end to the blockade;

  • No forced displacement of Palestinians and full support for refugee return rights;

  • The creation of a strong international system to protect civilians.

Pakistan fully supports the Palestinian people in their fight for justice, freedom, and independence. We want to see a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. We welcome recent efforts by France and Saudi Arabia through the Two-State Solution Conference and applaud the countries that have officially recognized Palestine. Pakistan was among the first to recognize Palestine in 1988, and we are proud of that.

The people of Palestine are in deep pain. Their suffering should awaken the conscience of the world. Gaza is not just a war zone — it has become a graveyard for humanity. We urge the United Nations Security Council and all nations to take strong action. It’s time to protect lives, uphold justice, and stand for what is right. Words are no longer enough. The world must act now
