Trump shares his new Gaza peace plan with Arab leaders.
The proposal seeks a path to end the war, with Arab troops enabling Israel's exit and funding for Gaza's future
US – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) -U.S. President Donald Trump is meeting with leaders from eight Muslim-majority nations on Tuesday to present a plan for ending the war in Gaza. The meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly includes leaders from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan.
The proposed plan outlines a future for Gaza after the war. It includes securing the release of hostages and a path for the Israeli military to withdraw from the territory. A key part of the plan is a request for Arab and Muslim nations to provide military forces to help keep order in Gaza after an Israeli withdrawal and to fund the rebuilding of the devastated enclave. The plan also explicitly excludes Hamas, the group that currently governs Gaza, from having any role in future governance.
This meeting comes at a time of significant international pressure. Just a day earlier, several Western countries, including France, the UK, and Canada, formally recognized a Palestinian state at the UN. This move was met with strong opposition from Israel and the United States. Indonesia’s President, who will be at the meeting, has already stated his country is ready to provide peacekeeping forces for Gaza.
France recognizes Palestine as Gaza bleeds massively under Israeli offensive
While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is aware of the plan’s outlines, reports suggest his government is likely to disagree with parts of it, particularly any potential future role for the Palestinian Authority in Gaza. The meeting represents the most detailed effort by the Trump administration to date to address the complex challenges of ending the war and stabilizing Gaza
