The 7th China–Afghanistan–Pakistan Trilateral Dialogue in Kabul follows previous meetings in Islamabad (2023) and Beijing (2025). The talks show the three nations’ commitment to turning dialogue into real progress on peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Pakistan plays a central role, promoting shared goals of security, trade links, and humanitarian support. China acts as a stabiliser, helping ease tensions between Islamabad and the Afghan Interim Government.

This round focuses on integrating Afghanistan into the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), agreed in May 2025. Pakistan envisions transforming Afghanistan into a regional hub connecting South and Central Asia.

Connectivity projects like transport corridors, Gwadar port access, and energy routes aim to create jobs, boost trade, and build infrastructure, reducing factors that drive militancy.

For the Taliban-led government, CPEC brings much-needed economic opportunities despite sanctions. For Pakistan, it shows responsible diplomacy, securing Afghanistan’s integration while improving cross-border security.

Counterterrorism remains a core focus. All three countries pledged to fight TTP, ETIM, ISKP, and al-Qaeda, protecting Chinese nationals and CPEC projects from external threats.

China sees Afghan militancy as a threat to Uyghur security and Belt and Road investments. Coordinated security with Pakistan and Afghanistan is essential.

The trilateral framework is a win-win: Pakistan as a bridge, China as a stabiliser, and Afghanistan as a partner in regional security and economic growth.
