Karachi aerial firing leaves over hundred people hurt

Minor girl among three killed in Karachi firing

Karachi(Special Correspondent/Web desk) On the night before Independence Day, Karachi witnessed deadly celebratory gunfire that claimed three lives, including that of a seven-year-old girl, and injured over 100 people, officials confirmed. Such incidents occur regularly despite official bans on aerial firing during public celebrations. Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said 109 injured people were taken to three major hospitals from different areas of the city, with three in serious condition. Azizabad SHO Waqar Kaiser said the child was standing on her home’s second-floor gallery in Block-8, watching fireworks, when a stray bullet fatally hit herGoogle marks Pakistan’s Freedom with Dazzling Independence Day Doodle

A short while later, the girl’s mother saw her bleeding. Her uncle rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The body was later moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors retrieved the bullet from her head.
SHO Waqar Kaiser said the bullet had been fired from a 9mm pistol.
Police have detained four suspects linked to the aerial firing and seized two 9mm pistols. Investigators are checking whether these weapons were used in the killings.
Meanwhile, Awami Colony police reported that a 35-year-old man was also killed by a stray bullet at Model Family Park in Korangi No. 3. His body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
