Imran Khan, Bahria Town land set for auction

NAB land sale goes ahead as SC rejects stay

Islamabad (Special Correspondent/Web desk) The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will auction hundreds of kanals of frozen property today (Monday) in the £190 million reference involving PTI founder Imran Khan and others.

NAB Rawalpindi says 248 kanals and 8 marlas on Club Road, Islamabad, and 405 kanals and 3 marlas in Mohra Noor village will go under the hammer. The land belongs to Bahria Town, whose request to stop the auction was rejected by the Supreme Court.Australia will recognise Palestinian state: PM

Justice Aminuddin, while rejecting the stay request, ordered that references be filed against Bahria Town owner Malik Riaz and the housing society. He said a decision would be made after hearing both sides, with all related petitions set for hearing on August 13.

On August 5, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) also dismissed petitions against the auction, clearing the way for NAB to sell Bahria Town properties. This decision follows earlier auctions of three out of six commercial properties to recover the outstanding plea bargain amount.

The Rubaish Marquee was sold for Rs508 million — Rs20 million above the minimum price. Conditional bids of Rs876 million and Rs881.5 million were also received for Corporate Office One and Corporate Office Two, respectively, but are still awaiting approval.

NAB says the auction is being held to recover the remaining amount from Bahria Town under a court-approved plea bargain.

Three properties could not be sold earlier due to low bids and will be put up for auction again. Meanwhile, the transfer of proceeds from already sold properties to NAB accounts is currently in progress.
