Tree Plantation Campaign Gains Momentum in Mirpur Amid Climate Concerns

MIPUR: (Special Correspondent): Under the patronage of Anjuman Falah-e-Bahbood Insaniyat Mirpur, thousands of free saplings were dis-tributed from the “Heal the Earth” nursery at the Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital. A large num-ber of people visited the nursery to collect plants and expressed their commitment to nurture these sap-lings as part of the society’s commendable initiative to make Mirpur greener and more vibrant. It was em-phasized that planting more trees is vital to creating a healthy environment.
On this occasion, Dr. Tahir Mahmood, Chairman of Anjuman Falah-e-Bahbood Insaniyat, said that every in-dividual has been affected by the negative impacts of current climate change. To combat the increasing trend of climate change, he stressed the need for extensive plantation on vacant lands and the planting of eco-friendly species. If this tree plantation drive is not treated as a national cause, future
generations will not be safe from its consequences.
He added that the nursery was established to address environmental challenges and now grows a variety of plant species. Besides these, an additional 7,000 saplings were brought in from outside, and another 7,000 are being distributed from the nursery to the general public. Our primary goal is to ensure environmental protection, and every member of society should actively participate in the national plantation campaign. Planting and safeguarding trees must be made a priority.
On this occasion, DFO Raja Imran Shafi said that Dr. Tahir Mahmood is not only serving suffering humanity by providing dialysis to patients with kidney diseases but is also playing an active role in the plantation campaign. His selfless services are unmatched, and his name
lives in the hearts of the people. He added that tree planting is a Sunnah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ and a symbol of the earth’s beauty; therefore, every-one should consider participating in the monsoon plantation drive as a duty.
Also present were District Information Officer Muhammad Javed Malik, senior journalist Zafar Mughal, So-cial Welfare Officer Malik Nisar Ahmed, members of the Anjuman including Muhammad Jahangir Mughal, Majid Abdul Mani, Zahoor Rasheed, and others.
