Punjab Launches Key Initiative to Prevent Disability in Spinal Injury Cases
Immediate surgical support will now be available for all spinal trauma cases arriving at the institute.
LAHORE: In a groundbreaking initiative at the Punjab Institute of Neurosurgery (PINS), a new emergency surgical protocol has been introduced for patients suffering from spinal cord injuries. The hospital administration has launched a system ensuring surgical intervention within 24 hours of admission to prevent permanent disability and provide timely medical care.

According to the Executive Director of PINS, spinal trauma patients will no longer have to wait for surgery. Instead, the procedure will be performed on the very first day of admission. Immediate surgical support will now be available for all spinal trauma cases arriving at the institute.

Professor Asif Bashir, head of spinal trauma, has ensured that operating theaters are now operational round-the-clock to support this initiative. He emphasized that early surgical intervention will significantly relieve patients from severe pain and reduce the risk of long-term complications related to spinal cord injuries.
