NA Speaker Lauds NAB’s Rs. 5311B Recovery in Meeting with Chairman

Islamabad — Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has lauded the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for its record-breaking performance during the fiscal year 2023-24, particularly highlighting the agency’s unprecedented direct and indirect recoveries amounting to Rs. 5311 billion (approximately USD 18.6 billion) between October 2023 and December 2024.

The Speaker expressed these views during a meeting with Chairman NAB Lt. Gen (R) Nazir Ahmed Butt, who presented NAB’s Annual Report 2023-24 at Parliament House, Islamabad. Deputy Chairman NAB Sohail Nasir was also present at the meeting.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that such a massive recovery is unmatched by any other anti-graft agency globally, adding that NAB’s success reflects its transformation into an apolitical, efficient, fair, and trustworthy institution.

He also commended NAB for its austerity measures and the successful revamping of the organization through AI-based digitalization. The Speaker appreciated NAB’s efforts to facilitate public complaints, including the complete automation of internal processes, the introduction of an AI-driven investigation regime, and the establishment of Special Accountability Facilitation Desks across all provinces to foster a more business-friendly environment.

He acknowledged NAB’s evolving role in promoting economic stability and good governance in Pakistan.

In response, Chairman NAB Lt. Gen (R) Nazir Ahmed Butt thanked the Speaker for his support and reiterated his commitment to transforming NAB into a model anti-corruption institution grounded in transparency, innovation, and public trust.
